Brownsbergerhaus

Sited on the quiet slope above Homer, Alaska on 20 acres of meadow, this single-family residence uniquely folds into the context, with atypical yet familiar forms. Designed with "the gaze" in mind, the boudoir commands the house with views to every room, while nooks allow secret panoramas and intra-spatial relations. Also, the meager floor area is congruent with the occupant's desires for less "space". South-facing roofs support photo-voltaic arrays and green roofs. At around 160 sm plus a two-car garage, the house has three bedrooms and bathrooms, plus a hottub. Additionally, the occupant is an avid stargazer, and sky snorkels frame the Cosmos. The entire structure is neither landscape, sculpture, nor architecture, but is a synthesis of all three.
