Sorensenhaus

This is a one-storey single family residence in Homer, Alaska. The project originated from the client having a dream of living in Homer, and he has realized that dream. The primary structure is insulated concrete formed walls, and framed floors over a crawlspace. In addition to the house, there is a shop and beach access.

The design consists of a tripartite plan with a "guest" wing, "master" wing, and common area. This provides guests and the owner relative privacy, with a large gathering area for shared time. This large space has commanding views across Katchemak Bay, and has a wood-fired Tulikivi stove for heat. The kitchen is roomy, and give the house the ability for entertaining large or small gatherings.
